JChat is Web 2.0
JChat is powered by AJAX which is the latest web based technology powering the Web 2.0 phenomenom, AJAX web applications work like Windows application, ie no page refreshes placing a heavy load on your web server. Google uses this AJAX technology in it's Gmail and maps web applications and we feel that AJAX is the way of the future. WYSIWYG Message Input
JChat boasts a fully WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) input interface, with many tools such as the classic "bold, italic. underline" as well as more advanced features such as image and smiley inclusion. The JChat permission / access control system allows you to easily define user access to individual rooms. You can group users and apply permissions collectively to the group or to a single user if required. Guests are also supported with the ability for the guest to choose their own username. Each permission level is color coded with the username displaying the color code of their access level regarding the room they are currently in. Permissions are another feature that set JChat apart from the competition.
